jam packed turkey burgers
Originally found by Mama Rubes this turkey burger is all I want in a burger. I have it basically memorized, making it rather easy to make on the fly. All the treats get mixed inside making for a perfectly seasoned cheesy mustard dream burger. Just one request when you make these-- be sure not to pile on too many toppings- they are all inside!
1 pound ground turkey; 93% preferably
3/4 cup freshly grated Gruyere cheese
4 scallions, thinly sliced
1/4 cup of grainy mustard
1/4 cup of seasoned bread crumbs
1 garlic clove; minced
burger buns of your liking
Combine all ingredients in large mixing bowl. Using your hands or a spoon gently mix till everything is evenly incorporated. This mix can be made hours before you are ready to cook and also freezes very well!
Form mixture into 4 or 5 patties, roughly 1'' thick. These are great on the grill but can also be cooked in a cast iron skillet. If grilling; lightly oil grates and sear each side on the hottest part of the grill for 1 to 2 minutes. Move to cooler part of grill and let cook for 5-10. If cooking in skillet, heat to medium high and coat the pan with olive oil, add burgers and let sear for 1 to 2 minutes. Next flip them and turn heat to low. Place the lid of a large pot on top, crooked- allowing it to vent. Let cook another 5 to 7 minutes.
Toast up your buns (hehe) and add sliced tomato and crispy lettuce.
